Cookie Policy

Last updated: 28 September 2026

The short version

This website sets one cookie, and it is there for security rather than for watching you. It runs no analytics, no advertising pixels, no session recording and no third-party trackers, and nothing it stores can identify you or follow you to another site.

That is why there is no cookie banner here. A banner is required for cookies you could reasonably refuse — advertising and analytics. A cookie a site needs in order to work safely is not one of those, so there is nothing to ask you about.

Why you were not asked to accept it

Cookie law separates two kinds of cookie. One kind a site genuinely needs in order to do what you asked of it — keep you signed in, keep a checkout going, protect a form from abuse. The other kind is for the site's own benefit: analytics, advertising, building a profile of you.

Only the second kind requires your consent, and that is what cookie banners are for. Ours is the first kind, so there is nothing to accept and no banner to dismiss. If we ever add an analytics or advertising cookie, you will be asked first, with a real choice.

The one cookie we set

It is called bsg_session. Your browser receives it the first time you open a page here, and it holds a random identifier and nothing else — no name, no email address, no record of the pages you viewed.

It exists so our enquiry form can tell a real browser session from a script sending submissions at it directly. Without it the form has no protection against automated abuse.

  • Name: bsg_session
  • Purpose: security for the enquiry form, and nothing else
  • Contains: a random identifier, no personal information
  • Lifetime: 24 hours, then your browser discards it
  • Set by: this website only, and never sent to anyone else
  • Flags: HttpOnly, so no script on the page can read it, and SameSite=Lax, so it is not sent from other sites

Server logs

Our hosting provider records ordinary technical data such as the address of the request and the time it was made, which is how any web server works and how attacks are detected. That is not a cookie, it is not stored on your device, and we do not use it to identify or profile visitors.

Embedded content

This site embeds no videos, maps, social feeds, chat widgets or comment systems, so no third party is able to set a cookie through it. Every visual on the site is drawn with HTML and CSS rather than loaded from somewhere else.

If this ever changes

If we add anything that sets another cookie — analytics, an advertising pixel, a booking widget, embedded video — we will update this page before or at the same time, list what each cookie does and how long it lasts, and ask for your consent before setting it. Everything beyond the session cookie above needs a real choice, and you will get one.

Controlling it

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies for any site from its privacy settings, and you are free to do that here.

The only thing you would lose is the enquiry form: without the session cookie it cannot confirm your submission came from a real browser, so it will ask you to reload the page. Everything else on the site reads exactly the same.
